Founded in 2016 by Marc Gille and Klaus Berberich, we have quickly gained recognition in the industry. Since the launch of our smart building technology, we have completed over 50 projects in Europe and the US, simplifying the lives of thousands of people.

Our Leadership Team
Marc Gille
FOUNDER AND CEO
Dr. Marc Gille is founder of THING TECHNOLOGIES, serial entrepreneur, and father of the Thing-it product.
He was SVP Product Management, SunGard/FIS until 2016, where he was in charge of the company’s integration, business process management technology, and strategy.
Marc Gille has a background in IT and physics and holds a Dr.-Ing. in Information Science from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
Klaus Berberich
FOUNDER AND COO
Klaus has 15 years of experience in applying disruptive technologies to drive innovation in his clients' businesses via software solution design, delivery, and sales. Germany born, he started his career at CARNOT in 2001 and subsequently spent seven years in the United States based out of New York City.
Prior to Thing-it, Klaus was a consulting partner in FIS’ Asset Management business where he helped some of FIS’ largest global clients on their path towards digitalization via software innovation.
Hussein Zaazou
VP PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Hussein is a technology and digitization enthusiast. He was promoted to VP in 2022 after joining Thing-it in 2019. Previously he has gathered over 8 years of Strategy Consulting experience at Accenture Strategy, leading and delivering Technology and IT related strategic project at various DAX30 and Fortune 500 companies.
Hussein holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD and a Master of Science degree in information and communication technology from the Darmstadt University of Technology.
Julia Drewes
CFO
Julia has over 20 years of experience as a finance and interims manager in controlling, finance & organization, corporate consulting, and special commercial projects.
She worked in national & global business planning, forecasting, internal and external reporting, key performance indicators, financial accounting, ERP systems, and M & A
Julia holds a diploma in economics from the University of Saarland.
Volker Matejka
VP ENGINEERING
Volker has over 15 years of experience in software development and agile management in companies like Siemens, ABB, and REALTECH.
He brings a broad expertise in software systems, from hardware-centric solutions to enterprise scale cloud applications.
Volker holds a Master's degree in computer science from the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
Shirin Kamiar-Gilani
Head of Marketing
Shirin is a B2B marketing specialist with over 18 years of experience. During this time, she has successfully implemented multichannel marketing and CRM for various companies, with her heart beating for the IT industry.
Since October 2023, Shirin has been developing customer-centric strategies for Thing-it and implementing a holistic marketing approach.
Shirin studied "Information and Knowledge Management" at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and holds the title "Diplom-Informationswirtin für Wirtschaftsinformationen".
Steven Jatz
Head of product management
Steven brings more than 15 years of experience in agile software development for the financial and IT industry. His career started as a software developer and led him to product management with more than ten years of management experience in software development, governance, quality management, support and operations.
Steven has been responsible for strategic product management at Thing-it since July 2023.
He holds a degree in computer science from the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.

Nikolas Samios is Managing Partner of PropTech1 Ventures,a regular keynote speaker and panelist at professional events, and together with Anja Rath co-author of the venture capital standard reference book DEALTERMS.VC
THOMAS ZINNÖCKER
Thomas Zinnöcker has held management positions at Krantz TKT GmbH, Deutsche Telekom Immobilien und Service GmbH, GSW Immobilien AG, Gagfah S.A., Vonovia SE and ista International GmbH. From 2014 to 2020, he was Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Corporate Governance in the German Real Estate Industry e.V. He also was a member of the Board of the German Real Estate Association ZIA. Thomas Zinnöcker currently holds various supervisory board positions.
CHRISTIAN MEINE
Dr. Christian Meine is an Advisor at Anyon, an early-stage technology investment firm with a focus on PropTech startups and a long-term investment approach. Previously, he was, among other things, a longtime member of Deloitte "The Garage", Deloitte's innovation unit, where he worked as a Data Strategist.
SHAHIN DASHTI
Shahin Dashti works as an Investment Manager at Futury Capital, a Frankfurt based multi-stage venture capital fund . Before his career as an investor, he worked on FoF investments at the European Investment Fund and in strategy consulting at KPMG. He regularly appears as a jury member or speaker at various tech events.
LEONIE SCHILLING
Leonie Schilling works as an Investment Professional at coparion, a multi-stage venture capital funds with 275 m€ AuM. Before her career as an investor, she worked in banking and strategy consulting. She regularly appears as a jury member or panelist at various events and has a broad global network.
